Welcome to the British Geophysical Association Postgraduate Research in Progress meeting website. The meeting is aimed at all postgraduate students working in all fields of geophysical research.


Thank you to everyone who contributed to the conference and made it a success. Congratulations to the prize winners: Richard Walters for his talk “The 2009 L’Aquila earthquake (central Italy): a source mechanism and implications for seismic hazard”, and Victoria Ridley for her poster “Jovimagnetic secular variation”.


The abstract booklet is now online, which includes information about the meeting. The timetable for talks can be found in the booklet.

  



This year the meeting was held at the Department of Earth Science and Engineering, Imperial College London, and took place on 10th-11th September 2009.


Keynote speakers at the event were:

  1. Dr. Sebastian Rost (Leeds University), this year’s Bullerwell Lecturer, speaking on “Seismic constraints on Earth's small-scale structure

  2. Dr. Ed Llewellin (Durham University) will present the lecture “Volcano physics: from bubbles to bangs!
